  1. The deferral of #tokyo2020 along with several thousands of events around the globe, it is apparent the view towards #covid19 has converged globally (as opposed to the recent dismissive approach in some parts of the world). I cannot see many political conflicts under “trending news”.
  2. We are now utilising all accessible technologies to continue life as we know it (while implementing home quarantine, social distancing & remote working) – although video conferencing has been around for couple of decades, it now sees the highest demand ever. We are now able to unlock the max potential of Skype, Microsoft teams, Zoom Video and many other platforms for this..
  3. Managers are evolving into leaders. The human side of leaders are more apparent than before.
  4. Only essential tasks are being done. In the last few weeks – I personally improved in this space!
  5. workfromhome – not believed by many, is now encouraged! While flexibility is good, deliverables must be clear with timelines.
  6. Crisis Management – essential skill.
Some are born with the right #attitude #behavior & #commitment to endure and perform during uncertain times by managing dynamic changes. Some will develop this skill now.

We are now going through an #upgrade. #decade_3

While clearly there is a massive economic impact on several sectors and likely the worst of recessions are about to take place around the world –
Let’s also look at the #silverlining
(Not Limited to)

  1. Environment
    Reduced Emission
  • From Airlines as a result of restricted air travel by countries and corporations
  • Reduced usage of road transport including Public transport as a result of schools, universities and several corporates enabling their students and/or staff to study and/or work from home
  1. Increased “sense of general hygiene”
  2. Increased “sense of Community” as the Pandemic is not limited to a certain ethnicity
  3. Minimized wastage as result of risk of reduction in supplies. Existing supplies are managed and utilized carefully
  4. Possible reduced focus and conflicts over political issues
  5. Places of worship temporarily closed down due to the risk of virus spreading, thus empowering Science to take lead while maintaining faith at “personal preference”
  6. More time with family in most cases!
  7. Opportunity to reset priorities on what matters and only what matters whether at work or at home
  8. Test of situational leadership and resilience at every level…be it Governmental, Organizational or Personal.

After weeks of progressive #socialdistancing and #quarantine –

  1. Adaptability, often forgotten human trait that manifests during generally undesirable and unchangeable situations. For businesses, adaptability is critical to continued success.
  2. Care, inherent trait for most if not all- current situation brings #care to the forefront.
  3. The #future is here, we want to be fit for the future – current situation can be seen as a fitness check to utilize existing technology and tools to their max potential, and some more. We may come out with more ideas to overcome similar situations in the future.
  4. A reminder to appreciate teachers for their efforts towards kids of many households in a single class room. Many parents struggle to manage their kids in their “own household”.
  5. A reminder to appreciate stay at home parents who normally looks after kids while the working parent is at work.
  6. Significant reduction in Noise pollution! #calm
  7. A reminder to appreciate the folks in medical and other services that continue to operate.
  8. Governments and corporations are taking drastic yet necessary measures to #flattenthecurve – it may not suit everyone, but this is a demonstration of social responsibility.
